Hey KC, she really *is* committed to the environment. Her tour bus uses biodiesel. And that keeps food out of the mouths of children in Africa! Executive decision: we poohpooh Sheryl Crow's green positions! Better yet: we will install composting toilets in China's public schools!! As for societies w/o TP, they use grass, rags, etc. How about a baby version--washable diapers! Yow!
BTW, "nightsoil" used to be a valuable commodity in the recent past. Men would travel throughout Edo-period Tokyo and Osaka in evenings and collect shit from households -- richer households' shit was highly desired for its better nutrient qualities. We'll get there again, someday.
